THE STORY

Baking has been a passion of mine since I can remember.  I was so eager to try out new recipes out of all my mom's cookbooks and hand them out to family to see the reaction on their faces, I can admit not all were successful!  I enrolled in college to get my Baking Certificate and have worked at numerous restaurants in the pastry and cake decorating field, but was looking for a way to share my personal favorite recipes and creative talents with others.  In the fall of 2014 The Battered Spoon was started!  I have combined all of my own favorite recipes and concoctions into my own kitchen to share with yours!

The Battered Spoon is a bakery that is solely out of my house.  Working directly with the customer to make sure the product you get is exactly what you desire.  Working around any dietary needs your guests may have, whether its gluten-free or vegan, is something I am happy to work with.  All of the desserts are made from real ingredients and nothing is pre-made, frozen or made from another  supplier.

At The Battered Spoon, the customers are valued.  I am happy to work around your schedule for a pick-up time, and I will even deliver!  I also understand that keeping a budget is necessary for most events and will work with yours to find you something you love and are budget-friendly with.  Customers choose The Battered Spoon because of the passion for excellence and detail that goes into the desserts and it is what sets us aside from competitors..

Thank you for checking out The Battered Spoon and I look forward to working with you!

How do I place an order?

For fastest service, you can email an order to thebatteredspoon@gmail.com with name, date, and what you are looking for, or fill out the form on the CONTACT US page.  You may also call Michelle at 763-477-2745.

Do You Customize Flavors?

Yes!!  Check out the menu and if there is something you don't see that you were looking for I would be happy to whip up something special just for you.

Do you work around food allergens?

If one of your guest may have a food allergen, I would be happy to take extra precautions for how your dessert is prepared and handled.  However, my kitchen does contain nuts, dairy and flour products so I can't guarantee a 100% allergen free dessert.

How do I pay?

I accept cash or check at pickup payable to The Battered Spoon, you may also pay via card or paypal on the CONTACT US page at the bottom.

How should I store my cake?

Cakes are fine to sit out for a few hours in a cool room, I actually suggest eating them at room temperature!  Please refrigerate your cakes for extended periods of time or out in a garage during our cold winters! Fondant cakes should NOT be refrigerated because it may ruin the fondant on your cake especially on hot, humid days.

If you are freezing a wedding cake top for your anniversary, put in a sealed cake box and wrap in plastic wrap to prevent freezer burn.

Do you deliver?

Yes!  If you are close by my place or if it's a wedding cake in the Metro area, delivery is free!  All other deliveries may be an upcharge depending on mileage.

How many days in advance do I need to place an order?

A two week notice is a good guarantee of getting a cake.  I do also take cake orders for the same week if I am not already fully booked.

Are you licensed?

Yes, I did go through the required training and do have my Cottage Foods License, which allows me to bring my cakes into venues that require this.  I cannot, however, sell to restaurants or stores.
